Child Search Screenings

The St. James Parish School District identifies, locates, and evaluates all children, birth through 21 years of age, suspected of having a disability and needing special education and/or related services within its jurisdiction. If a parent or family member is concerned about a child’s development, they may contact the Parish Child Search Coordinator to schedule a developmental screening. If the child is between birth-3 years old, a referral will be made to Early Steps. The St. James Parish will screen children aged 2 years, nine months old through school-age (5 years old).
