Ory Forsyth, a senior from Lutcher High School, was chosen to attend NUCOR's Tech Academy following graduation in May 2024.

Ory will complete a two-year program at Shelton State Community College in Tusaloosa, Alabama. He will receive full tuition, housing, and books while enrolled in the Tech Academy. Upon completion of the program, he will receive an Associates Degree in Applied Science in Industrial Electronics Technology, and he will be given full opportunity to become a teammate at NUCOR.

"In five years, I hope to be one of the

top Electrical and Instrumentation Technicians, or a plant manager.

-Ory Forsyth"

Ory knew when growing up that he wanted to pursue a career in engineering, but he wasn't certain what that would look like, or what it would entail. Ory mentioned numerous friends who were recipients of NUCOR's Tech Academy opportunity in recent years. Watching his peers move on to become successful through this program drove Ory to want to do the same. When NUCOR visited the electrical class at the College and Career Center last year, he knew right away that he wanted to become part of the Tech Academy.

Ory hopes that in the future, he can use this opportunity to advance to higher roles within the NUCOR company. When asked where he sees himself in 5 years he said, "In 5 years, I hope to be one of the top Electrical and Instrumentation technicians, or a plant manager."

Superintendent Kimball and St. James Parish Schools thanks NUCOR for its continued support for our students and our schools throughout the district. Without business and industry support like this, students wouldn't have access to opportunities such as this one.
